1. About the service
Tethered Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 63 667 211 645) operates a software platform that connects EV drivers with chargers owned and operated by independent businesses ('Site Operators'). Site Operators — not Tethered — supply the electricity and own the chargers. We facilitate authentication, session control, payment and receipts.
2. Eligibility & account
- You must be 18+ and hold a valid Australian driver licence to use chargers for a road-registered EV.
- You must provide accurate information and keep your payment method, email and contact details current.
- You are responsible for activity under your account; notify us immediately of unauthorised use.
3. Starting and ending a session
- Pricing shown at session start (per kWh and any session/idle fees) applies for that session.
- You authorise a pre-authorisation hold on your payment method; final charge is based on energy delivered plus applicable fees and GST.
- You must follow on-site signage, charger instructions, parking rules and any time limits.
- You must not leave your vehicle connected after charging completes where idle fees apply. Idle fees only accrue between 6am and midnight Australia/Sydney — overnight (12am–6am) is a quiet window and no idle fee will start during that period.
4. Payment, receipts & refunds
- Payment is collected by us on behalf of the Site Operator. Receipts are issued by the Site Operator.
- If a session fails through no fault of Yours You may request a refund via the app; refunds are at the Site Operator's discretion subject to Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
- Disputed transactions should be raised within 30 days.
5. Safety
- Inspect the cable and connector before use. Do not use damaged equipment — report it through the app.
- Only charge vehicles designed and approved for the connector and power level shown.
- Do not modify, tamper with, or move charging equipment.
- Follow all emergency stop, fire and electrical safety instructions on site.
6. Availability
Charger availability, speed and uptime are controlled by the Site Operator and external networks. We do not guarantee that any specific charger will be available, operational, or deliver a particular charging rate.
7. Acceptable use
You must not: use the service fraudulently; share your account; misuse, damage or block chargers; charge a vehicle that is unsafe or unregistered; or breach our Acceptable Use Policy.
8. Privacy
We collect and handle Your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Australian Privacy Principles.
9. Australian Consumer Law
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies those guarantees.
10. Liability
- Subject to clause 9, to the maximum extent permitted by law we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss, loss of range, missed appointments, towing, accommodation or vehicle damage caused by third parties.
- Our total liability to You for any session is capped at the amount You paid for that session.
- The Site Operator is responsible for the supply of electricity, charger safety, and the physical site.
11. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or close Your account for breach of these Terms, suspected fraud, safety risk or non-payment.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
